Graffiti

Graffiti Busting in the Rain

Well I did say we were going to start on the graffiti and we have. The weather was not on our side but we still made a start. There was a group of five of us which included are Parliamentary spokes person Tracey Crouch. I think really we found it good fun and we were pleased to see how well the chemicals did work. I know we did not clear that much and you probable can think of other areas that need doing. But at least it was a start. If you are interested in helping next time give us a call.

I see that there is a hotline to report dumped rubbish. A suitable case for reporting would be the 15 or so copies of a glossy brochure outlining the rules concerning the smoking ban which my accountant received. I only received one and was surprised that the council has gone to such expense to inform us of a law that everyone knows about already due to non stop reports about it in the media.

Could you publish on this blog how much taxpayers money was spent on this literature? It is of such high quality that few of the businesses receiving it could afford the luxury of such opulent and glossy publicity material. It doesn't look like recycled paper either. Apparently only the finest, glossiest paper is fit for the job of telling us how to obey yet another regulation.

Hello Simon,
Thanks again for your comments.
I cannot tell you how much the printing costs were for the 'glossy paper' but it probably wasn't as expensive as you think when they are having it printed in bulk.
Yes, there is a lot of media attention but not everyone reads the papers and watches the TV and it will benefit the people in public places in the long term.

Landlords of pubs or restaurants which are privately owned businesses no longer have the right to choose whether they let visitors to their premises smoke or not. I don't see how the removal of choice benefits anyone. I also don't see how printing glossy pamphlets about that removal of choice helps anyone. It is another sign of the bullying nanny state. Something which Dave Cameron was speaking out against yesterday. About time too, perhaps the penny has finally dropped.

I would still be interested to know how much these brochures cost, Can you find out?
